1934 marked the grand opening of the Pléney cable car in Morzine. At the time, it was only used for hiking and views over the Alps - skiing was restricted to the more reassuring prairies in the valley.
Shortly before the war, Andrée and François Passaquin transformed the family farm into the "Hotel des Sports”, one of the first hotels to welcome tourists to Morzine.
Sadly, the difficult period which followed forced them to close until 1945, when they were finally able to devote themselves fully to hosting holiday-makers. François, a carpenter by trade, carried out many renovations to create the warm and welcoming wooden interiors while Andrée, a skilled seamstress, was in charge of furnishings.
Their son, Claude, became a chef and joined them, taking over the business in the 80s with his wife Christiane. They renamed the hotel "Le Sporting". With impeccable taste and a gift for woodwork, Claude continued to embellish and develop the hotel, while Christiane brought a personal touch to decorating the chalet and devoted herself to making customers feel at home.
