Our 3-star hotel in Morzine

A wonderful family history

In 1934, Morzine opened the Pléney cable car with great fanfare. At the time, it was only used for hikers and for Alpine views, with skiing reserved for the more reassuring prairies of the valley.

Shortly before the war, Andrée and François Passaquin transformed the family farm into the “Hôtel des Sports”, one of the first establishments in Morzine to welcome tourists.

Le Sporting in Morzine

Unfortunately, the difficult period that followed meant they had to close until 1945, when they could once more focus on welcoming holiday-makers. A carpenter by trade, François was dedicated to helping guests discover how welcoming wood can be by continuously maintaining and renovating the hotel, while Andrée, a talented seamstress, kept busy with the interiors.

Their son Claude, who learnt how to be a chef, would join them soon after and took over the business with his wife Christiane in the 1980s. They renamed the hotel “Le Sporting” A lover of good taste and skilled in woodwork, Claude has always sought to embellish and develop the hotel, while Christiane has brought her personal touch to decorating the chalet and to readily welcoming guests.
